Bass Fishing Forum Moderator - James TeerWelcome to Ultimate Bass; my name is James Teer, also known as bassadict69 here on the board. I currently work full-time selling parts for Peterbilt Trucks. I have been in this business now for about 10 years. I also work part-time for Bossier Parish EMS as an EMT-Basic and am also a volunteer Firefighter. I grew up in Benton, La on Black Bayou Reservoir. I graduated from Benton High School in 1989 but have now decided to go back to school part-time & work towards becoming a registered nurse. I am currently married and have one teenage daughter in high school.

I have been fishing since I was about 6 years old when we moved on Cypress/Black Bayou in Benton, La. I started out mainly white perch and bream fishing with my dad. One day when I was about 7, I walked down to our pier with my little Zebco 33 and a beetle spin to try to catch a white perch or two off a christmas tree my dad had sunk a few months before. I ended up catching a 1 1/2 pound largemouth bass. It was my first bass and I was hooked after that! My parents still have that bass mounted on the wall in their den. I was too young to go out in a boat but started walking the banks around the lake every chance I got. About a year later I found out that a friend of mine that I had known in daycare since I was 4 lived just down the lake from me. He had a jon boat that we would paddle around in the lilly pads by his house. It was the best bass fishing I had ever seen. We could always go there and catch a few fish!
That little jon boat was just the beginning! Soon we were old enough to take my dads small Gator boat out and if I wasn't in school or at church...you could find me out on the lake. Growing up on the lake, I never got into sports-Fishing is ALL I wanted to do.

I just started tournament fishing about 4 years ago after joining a local bass club. I only fished with them for about a year and a half. I was way out of my league with these guys and they were all too focused on winning rather than helping others learn. In February 2004, I joined the Twin Cities Team Club. I have only managed to place in one or two tournaments. I still have alot to learn about bass fishing, but learn something new everyday here on UltimateBass as well as every tournament I fish.

It seems like we hear about or witness cheating anglers more often with each passing year. I don't know if it's the prestige of winning a bass tournament or the money that goes along with it, or both.
